The Mt. Blue Cougars will face off against the Lewiston Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Blue will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Mt. Blue barely beat Skowhegan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the River Hawks with a sharp 8-2 win on Wednesday.

Dane Cousineau was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Cousineau was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Leso, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jax Vienneau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lewiston suffered their closest defeat since May 6, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Oxford Hills by a score of 4-2. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Spencer Chartier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jeffrey Randall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Mt. Blue's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lewiston, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Mt. Blue took their victory against Lewiston in their previous matchup last Wednesday by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
