Softball Game Preview: Meyersdale Red Raiders vs. Windber Ramblers

Meyersdale is 9-1 against Windber since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will square off against the Ramblers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Meyersdale took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Rockwood with a sharp 15-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Raiders considering their one-run performance the game before.

Meyersdale let Jessica Daughton and Isabella Sleasman run wild. Daughton went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and six RBI, while Sleasman got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those six RBI gave Daughton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendell Donaldson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meyersdale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Windber had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Panthers.

Meyersdale pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Windber, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything went Meyersdale's way against Windber in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Meyersdale made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ramblers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
