Hoke County hasn't had much luck against Jack Britt recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bucks are taking a road trip to challenge the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Hoke County turned things around against Red Springs on Thursday. They blew past the Red Devils 14-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bucks have posted against the Red Devils since April 17, 2017.
Jayden Hollingsworth was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hoke County got a big performance out of James Tatum, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rob Wright, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Hoke County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Springs only posted an OBP of .385.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jack Britt). Everything went their way against Douglas Byrd on Thursday as they made off with a 17-1 win. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Hoke County's record is now 3-5. As for Jack Britt, their record now sits at 4-5.
Hoke County couldn't quite finish off Jack Britt in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 and fell 7-5. Can the Bucks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
