After a string of four wins, the Waverly Wolverines's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 76-64 to Seton Catholic Central. Waverly was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Seton Catholic Central apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Seton Catholic Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Erickson led the charge by scoring 21 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Allan Eagles, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Waverly's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Seton Catholic Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly will take on Charles O. Dickerson at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Charles O. Dickerson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Waverly likes a good challenge. As for Seton Catholic Central, they will play host again and welcome Oneonta, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
