Softball Recap: Daphne Beats Beauregard for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Daphne had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They never let the Beauregard Hornets get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Victoria Moten made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other pitching news, Campbell Hicks looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Abby J Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cammerlyn Herport, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Daphne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive games.

Daphne's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Beauregard, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Daphne and Beauregard should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Daphne will square off against Mobile Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday up 69 places (8 vs. 77). Meanwhile, Beauregard (ranked 49th) will meet Smiths Station (ranked 158th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
