Boylan Catholic can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 53-22 victory over Belvidere North. Given Boylan Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Belvidere North is ranked 509th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lilian Esparza was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 24 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Boylan Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Petalber, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Freeport ended up a good deal behind Rockford Auburn on Friday and lost 61-45.
Boylan Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
Boylan Catholic strolled past Freeport in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 48-34. Will Boylan Catholic repeat their success, or does Freeport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
