Baseball Recap: Palmetto Ridge Wins Going Away Against Ida Baker

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Fort Myers, Palmetto Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Ida Baker Bulldogs with a sharp 13-4 victory. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Gabe Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Omar Rosado was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Garcia wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Palmetto Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Palmetto Ridge's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Ida Baker, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Palmetto Ridge will welcome Lehigh at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Palmetto Ridge is facing Lehigh at the right time seeing as Lehigh is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Ida Baker, they will venture away from home to take on Cape Coral at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Coral has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something Ida Baker will no doubt try to take advantage of.
