The Boulder City Eagles will take on the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Boulder City turned things around against Rancho on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 11-8.
Gavin Robinson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last three matchups. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Cael Starley was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Spencer Aten, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mater Academy East Las Vegas earned a 10-5 victory over Carson on Wednesday.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Herrera, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Daniel Virrueta was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Boulder City's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boulder City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Mater Academy East Las Vegas struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
