The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Pine Crest. While losing is never fun, Calvary Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Pine Crest is ranked 194th).
Calvary Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camryn Kanell, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. Teagan Wakefield was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Leading Pine Crest to victory were Franky Garfi and Isabella M sangha. Garfi scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, while M sangha dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Garfi hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Calvary Christian Academy's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-11. As for Pine Crest, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian Academy will take on Saint Andrew's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saint Andrew's will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Pine Crest won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Oxbridge Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th.
