District 10 Region 4 AA recap September 4, 2013
Fairview was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to third in District 10 Region 4 AA. Earlier in the week, the Tigers triumphed over Youngsville 42-0.
Northwestern scaled the state rankings by moving to 229 from 273 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats were able to make move up by topping Meadville 31-7.
Ben Kocan and Shannon Jackson gave Fairview a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Kocan threw for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Jackson ran for 122 yards. Teammate Harold Coles added to the ground attack by rushing for 109 yards.
Kocan and Jackson gave Jim Brinling's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.
Nathainel Smith was a passing and rushing force as Corry lost to Oil City. He completed 10 passes for 143 yards and also ran for 55 yards. Smith's favorite target this week was Liam Cragg, who caught 5 passes for 74 yards.
Cragg was the best receiver in the league this week as the Beavers lost to the Oilers. Collyn Frontera helped Corry's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 56 yards.
Kocan put up the best numbers through the air as the Tigers topped the Eagles. Kocan's favorite target this week was Michael McCloy, who caught 2 passes for 31 yards.
Jackson was the best running back in District 10 Region 4 AA this week.
Corry's Smith and Cragg have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 143 yards this season, while Cragg, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 5 catches for 74 yards. Jackson from Fairview leads the league in rushing with 122 yards.
An important game coming up this the league this week will be when Northwestern takes on Seneca. DJ Hough's team is in first place, while the Bobcats are in fourth place.
The Tigers took down Youngsville 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kocan in the win.
