On Friday, Sutton was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Prouty. While losing is never fun, Sutton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Prouty is ranked 13th).
Sutton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chase Gara, who scored 17 points. The match was Gara's third in a row with at least ten points. Brennan Benedict was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Sutton now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Prouty, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Sutton will stay at home for another game and welcome Maynard at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th. Prouty will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Douglas at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
