The Chaparral Cowboys lost against the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Chaparral took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cimarron-Memorial. Chaparral has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chaparral lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Qualib Ghallab, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Ghallab is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rayshawn Armstead, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Cimarron-Memorial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gerald Patterson out in front who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Cardona, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals.
Chaparral has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Cimarron-Memorial, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.
Chaparral will be playing at home against Western at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Western is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Legacy is ranked 19th, while Cimarron-Memorial is ranked 22nd).
