Tyler Grace was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Toledo Christian is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Quinn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Connor Egbert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Stritch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 29-5 to Ottawa Hills.
Cardinal Stritch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelo Nino, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Toledo Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Stritch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Toledo Christian might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Cardinal Stritch in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
