Desert Oasis and Spring Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Spring Valley Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on December 4th.
Last Tuesday, Desert Oasis faced Basic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Desert Oasis fell 42-30 to Basic.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cali Scarpaci, who scored 11 points. She scored a full 36.7% of Desert Oasis' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Saidiee Wuske, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley waltzed into Friday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Arbor View 55-52.
Mia Ervin went supernova for Spring Valley, scoring 26 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Ervin is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Melanie Ortiz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Desert Oasis' victory lifted them to 3-2 while Basic's defeat dropped them down to 1-2.
Monday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Desert Oasis haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. However, it's not like Spring Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 0 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
