The Paraclete Spirits will head out on the road to face off against the Crespi Celts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Paraclete and four for Crespi.
Last Friday, Paraclete had to suffer through a rough 36-7 loss at the hands of Loyola. Paraclete was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-0.
Meanwhile, Crespi ended up a good deal behind St. Francis on Friday and lost 42-27. While losing is never fun, Crespi can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 388th, while St. Francis is ranked 59th).
Despite their defeat, Crespi saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elijah Pendleton, who picked up 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Masyn Harvey, who threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns.
The losses dropped Paraclete to 6-3 and Crespi to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Paraclete against Crespi in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 56-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Paraclete since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
