Even though the Holcomb Hornets scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, the Cooter Wildcats still came out on top. Cooter skirted past Holcomb 63-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cooter.
Cooter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden McLevain led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds. The match was McLevain's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Caleb Gunnels was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Cooter's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Holcomb, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Cooter will head out on the road to face off against Hayti at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holcomb, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Neelyville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neelyville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Holcomb likes a good challenge.
