After flying high against North Andover  last Friday, Marblehead came back down to earth. The Marblehead Magicians fell just short of the Woburn Memorial Tanners by a score of  3-2 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Magicians of the  3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in September of 2023.
 In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Marblehead sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-16, 17-25, 25-21, 22-25,  15-7.
 Despite the loss, Marblehead still got an impressive performance from   Megan Parkman, who  had 18  digs.
 Woburn Memorial was led to victory by  Ella Spinazola and  Alina Ayanian.  Spinazola  had 18  digs, while  Ayanian  had four  aces. Spinazola is  crushing it when it comes to  digs: she's   had at least 12 every time she's  taken the court this season.
 Marblehead now  has a losing record at 1-2. As for Woburn Memorial, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
 Marblehead will venture away from home to  challenge Winthrop  at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Marblehead is no doubt hoping to put an end to  a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Woburn Memorial, they will square off against Watertown at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Woburn Memorial is facing Watertown at the right time seeing as Watertown is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak.
