The Milford Mavericks will be home for the holidays to greet the Brandon Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Milford has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Walled Lake Western with a sharp 44-19 win on Friday. Given Milford's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Walled Lake Western is ranked 427th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Brandon was the victim of a tough 55-32 loss at the hands of Skyline on Saturday. Brandon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Brandon got a solid performance out of Riley Abney, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Abney scored a full 37.5% of Brandon's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Milford's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Brandon, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Milford beat Brandon 38-27 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Will Milford repeat their success, or does Brandon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
