It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Wheeler Wildcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Osborne by a score of 17-10. The win was just what Wheeler needed coming off of a 63-27 loss in their prior game.
The team won by holding Osborne to a paltry two yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Wheeler's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Elijah Muhammad and Shamar Yarber who racked up four sacks between them.
Wheeler's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. As for Osborne, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler will square off against Kennesaw Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennesaw Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Wheeler is ranked 70th). As for Osborne, they will head out on the road to face off against Walton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Walton will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
