Naugatuck got a good showing from Lucas Ferraiolo, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Ferraiolo has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Woodland Regional entered their tilt with Crosby on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Tyler Yoxall looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler DeCrescenzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bryce DeCrescenzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Woodland Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Naugatuck's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Woodland Regional, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Naugatuck has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodland Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Naugatuck came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodland Regional when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
