The Greensburg Pirates will take on the Rushville Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greensburg has four straight wins, Rushville has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Greensburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against South Decatur on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-1 victory. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Ayden Sefton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Sefton was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Greensburg let Joey Everroad and Ethan Smith run wild. Everroad went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Miller, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Greensburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Decatur only posted an OBP of .150.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Rushville and New Castle, and New Castle kept the tradition alive. The Lions fell 6-2 to the Trojans on Wednesday.
Rushville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Newman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Newman snagged this season.
Greensburg's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Rushville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Rushville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Greensburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Rushville, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Greensburg's hitters?
