The Alta Hawks can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. Everything went their way against West as Alta made off with a 60-40 win. Winning may never get old, but Alta sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Leafa Niumeitolu was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Alta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Kegel, who scored ten points.
When it comes to explaining why West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Fina Tuha. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Tuha is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kylee Falatea was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Alta's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for West, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-5.
Alta will head out on the road to square off against Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Alta likes a good challenge. As for West, they will be playing at home against East at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 85th, while West is ranked 25th).
