The West Vigo Vikings will challenge the Edgewood Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with West Vigo sitting on 15 straight victories and Edgewood on three.
West Vigo proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Terre Haute South Vigo. The five-run effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jaleigh Lindley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Janelle Sullivan, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Jaycee Elkins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
West Vigo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Edgewood owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. Everything went their way against Linton-Stockton as they made off with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like West Vigo, Edgewood also got a great game from a two-way player: ALLY BLAND. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. BLAND has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, LIZZY AUSTIN was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for West Vigo, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Vigo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
