The West Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by East 57-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West of the 51-11 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.
It was another big night for Kaliyah Barron, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 20 rebounds for East. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Barron has scored at least a third of East's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakarol Morrison, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and three steals.
West's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.1 points per game. As for East, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cougar at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Cristo Rey comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 11 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. East will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Red Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on February 24th.
