The Jefferson Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 65-40 walloping at the hands of Lincoln. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Lynx are ranked 134th).
Despite the loss, Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Grace Strong, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Strong has scored all season. Brandi Jarmon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Jefferson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lincoln was led to victory by Lexie Pearce and Addie Naughton. Pearce scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Naughton dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hutson Rau, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Jefferson's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Lincoln, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Jefferson will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Le Mars is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Lincoln, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Black Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Sioux City East has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 445 points over their last six matchups.
