Meanwhile, Dorchester Academy put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Colleton Prep Academy.
Emery McClure was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. McClure was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Dorchester Academy let Rylee Matthews and Alyssa Grooms run wild. Matthews scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Grooms went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Matthews a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Lily Canady, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Dorchester Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Andrew Jackson Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Dorchester Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
