The Elmira Express were the 88-72 winner over the Johnson City Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Elmira fell 72-64 to Johnson City on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Zubayr Griffin had an outrageously good game for Johnson City as he dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Elmira's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Johnson City, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmira will take on Maine-Endwell at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Johnson City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Norwich at 8:45 p.m. on Friday.
