The Somers Tuskers will face off against the Clarkstown North Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Somers is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Monday, it was close, but Somers sidestepped Arlington for an 8-6 win.
Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Somers got a massive performance out of Gianna Peanamanda, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Kaleigh Conti was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Clarkstown North's offense. They lost 14-0 to Pearl River on Monday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.
Clarkstown North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Squitieri, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Squitieri has snagged this season.
This is the second loss in a row for Clarkstown North and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Somers, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Clarkstown North's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Somers has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Clarkstown North, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Somers keep running through batters, or will the Rams buck the trend?
Everything went Somers' way against Clarkstown North when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Somers made off with a 12-1 win. Do the Tuskers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
