Brackenridge is 8-2 against Jefferson since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Brackenridge headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Sam Houston let them put that streak behind them. The Eagles blew past the Hurricanes 17-2 on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jordan Monroy was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Brackenridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Rodolfo Nino, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Brackenridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Jefferson entered their tilt with Highlands on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Owls a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Mustangs have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Fernando Benitez-Ruiz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Urdiales, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Julian Calvario was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Jefferson now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Brackenridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
Brackenridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson when the teams last played back in March, winning 6-2. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
