The Spearfish Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lead-Deadwood 69-42 at home. Spearfish pushed the score to 55-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golddiggers had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Seth Hamilton, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylon Doren, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Spearfish is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Lead-Deadwood, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spearfish will take on the Kernels at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mitchell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in South Dakota (the Kernels are ranked sixth, while the Spartans are ranked 58th). As for Lead-Deadwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Scotties at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Philip's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
