With a playoff game on the line, the Jesuit Marauders rose to the challenge on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pride a 2-0 shutout. Given Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Pitman is ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aiden Sandmeier was the driving force of Jesuit's attack as he scored both of Jesuit's goals. With that big game, he's now up to eight goals this season.
Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 18-1-2. As for Pitman, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10-6.
Jesuit will take on Central Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Valley will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Jesuit surely won't give up without a fight. Pitman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
