It was a good run, but the Byers Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middleton. Byers has not had much luck with Middleton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Middleton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleb Holmes, who scored 9 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Holmes hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Taquinis Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 14 rebounds.
Byers' loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Middleton, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Byers will take on Falkner at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falkner will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Byers is ranked 44th). As for Middleton, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Fayette Ware at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th.
