Basketball Recap: Superior Skates Past Lawrence-Nelson with Ease

Superior won the last time they faced Lawrence-Nelson and things went their way on Friday too. The Superior Wildcats claimed a resounding 58-18 victory over the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 22 points or more this season.

Superior's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Cornell, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 20 points and five steals. What's more, Cornell also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Faith Anne Butler was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five boards and three steals.

Superior smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Lawrence-Nelson still got an impressive performance from Kara Menke, who posted four points and six rebounds. Menke is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Superior is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Lawrence-Nelson has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Superior didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-33 victory against Deshler on the 19th. As for Lawrence-Nelson, they have also already played their next contest, a 55-36 win against Meridian on the 19th.
