The Odem Owls posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mathis and snuck past 38-36. That's two games straight that Odem has won by exactly two points.
Despite the loss, Mathis still got an impressive performance from Ashton Quesada, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Quesada hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Arik Cuellar was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Odem and bumps their season record up to 10-13. As for Mathis, they bumped their record down to 11-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Odem will face off against Goliad at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mathis, they will head out on the road to face off against George West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully George West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
