Mia Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Flores, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last ten matchups. Autumn Schaffer also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, East Central got the win against Judson on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. Considering the Hornets have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Williamson looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Ava Pacheco was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jena Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
East Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 15 consecutive games.
Steele's record now sits at 13-4-1. As for East Central, their record is now 19-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Steele hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like East Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Steele suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to East Central when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
