The A&M Consolidated Tigers were the 52-49 winner over the Montgomery Bears when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. A&M Consolidated was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 43-42 to Montgomery. While losing is never fun, A&M Consolidated can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while Montgomery is ranked 220th).
Savannah Piro continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Montgomery, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Piro has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylee Langley, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
A&M Consolidated has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Montgomery, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-6.
A&M Consolidated will head out on the road to square off against Magnolia West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Magnolia West will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Montgomery will take on Rudder at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
