Phil Campbell has gone a perfect 3-0 against Carbon Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Phil Campbell will be strutting in after a win while Carbon Hill will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, Phil Campbell was able to grind out a solid victory over Midfield, taking the game 36-26. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Phil Campbell can attribute much of their success to Austin Elliott, who rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown, and Braxton Downey, who rushed for 98 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Phil Campbell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Carbon Hill had to suffer through a 61-13 loss at the hands of Winfield. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Phil Campbell will need to focus on slowing down Jake Gilreath, one of several Carbon Hill players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 82 yards and one TD. Carbon Hill also got help from Marcus Pierce, who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.
The win got Phil Campbell back to even at 3-3. As for Carbon Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Phil Campbell has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Carbon Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
