Arab hasn't had much luck against Fort Payne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Wildcats at 8:15 p.m. Neither Arab nor Fort Payne posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
On Tuesday, Arab came up short against Scottsboro and fell 4-1. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Arab saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emerson Christian, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Fort Payne put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Southside. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Panthers 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 11th.
The result came thanks to Olivia Lee's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cory Kramer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Fort Payne's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Arab, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Arab hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fort Payne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Arab suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Fort Payne in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
