Lipscomb Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pope John Paul II recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Lipscomb Academy will be strutting in after a win while Pope John Paul II will be coming in after a loss.
Lipscomb Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Ensworth 17-0. Considering the Mustangs have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mia Brauss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Story, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Corinne Pearman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lipscomb Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .792. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pope John Paul II came up short against Christ Presbyterian Academy on Friday, falling 19-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost seven in a row.
Laney Jackson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Lipscomb Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Pope John Paul II, they now have a losing record of 10-11-1.
Lipscomb Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Pope John Paul II when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-3. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
