The Grulla Gators and the Ingleside Mustangs squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Grulla Gators had to settle for second. Grulla was outmatched by Ingleside on the road and fell 50-20. While losing is never fun, Grulla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1006th, while Ingleside is ranked 489th).
Ingleside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathan Ambrose led the charge by rushing for 177 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Smith, who picked up 133 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Grulla has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Ingleside, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Grulla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ingleside will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bandera. Bandera is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
