Olivia Jewkes was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, five runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avie Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles.
Jewkes wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Juan Diego Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Judge Memorial Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over Summit Academy on Thursday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.
Avery Kaleel and Emma Terhaar did most of the damage at the plate: Kaleel scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Terhaar scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Kaleel also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kaiya Schumaker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Judge Memorial Catholic's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Juan Diego Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Judge Memorial Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Juan Diego Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Judge Memorial Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits.
