James Nelson of Palos Verdes Peninsula ran for the longest rushing play in Bay this season against Lawndale last week. Nelson scampered for 88 yards on the play and finished with 132 on the day as his team fell to the Cardinals.
West extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating South, 49-20. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Palos Verdes Peninsula's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ian Escutia threw for 149 and two touchdowns and Zack Riley had 53 yards receiving. Jake Teren helped Palos Verdes Peninsula's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.
Palos Verdes Peninsula's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Escutia has thrown for 394 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Riley has nine catches for 96 yards. Nelson leads the league in rushing with 357 yards.
Palos Verdes moved up to 75 from 113 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Bay. The Sea Kings climbed the ranks as a result of a 35-34 win over Moorpark.
