Montville is a perfect 4-0 against Wheeler since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Montville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Montville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Waterford on Thursday. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 14-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Wolves were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Killingly.
Victoria Kleeman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Morgyn Perkins and Addie Stanley did some serious damage despite the final result: Perkins got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Stanley went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Camilla LeSage also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Wheeler now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Montville, they moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Montville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Wheeler struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Montville's way against Wheeler in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Montville made off with an 11-3 victory. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
