The Carrboro Jaguars suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 96-71 defeat at the hands of South Granville. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (57), Carrboro still had to take the loss.
Carrboro's loss came despite strong showings from Brody Gagne and Bakari Watkins. Gagne scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Watkins scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Gagne continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Myles Gary was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Brendan Chamberlain continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Granville, scoring 22 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chamberlain has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oliver Roberts, who scored 19 points.
Carrboro's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for South Granville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Carrboro will stay at home for another game and welcome Granville Central at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Granville Central is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for South Granville, they will take on Louisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Louisburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 276th, while South Granville is ranked 70th).
