Basketball Recap: Alex Hass Key Part of a Team Effort in Beetdiggers Win

Brush hadn't done well against Yuma recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Brush Beetdiggers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Yuma Outlaws, sneaking past 37-34. This was payback for the Beetdiggers, who suffered a 64-23 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brush's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Hass, who posted nine points. Those nine points gave Hass a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Headley, who put up five points and 19 boards.

Brush smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Yuma still got an impressive performance from Carolina Ross, who scored 11 points and five steals. Jade Lungwitz was another key player, putting up four points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Brush has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Yuma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Brush will head out on the road to challenge Wray at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Wray: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Brush has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. As for Yuma, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eaton at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Eaton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Yuma likes a good challenge.
