Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Academy Starts off Right with Win over Centerville

Covenant Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Centerville Bulldogs a 19-0 shutout. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Krista Marks made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Marks was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Abbey Henry was a standout: she went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Verrett, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Looking ahead, Covenant Christian Academy will host South Lafourche at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centerville, they will venture away from home to square off against V.B. Glencoe Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centerville has now lost nine straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 12.
