Baseball Recap: Parker Comes Up Short

The Parker Thundering Herd might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-10 to the Blount Leopards, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Thundering Herd have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Courterius Bedgood was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Conellrious Scott was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Parker: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicolas Page, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. This was only their first loss (out of nine games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Parker's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Blount, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parker will venture away from home to take on Orange Beach at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Orange Beach's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Blount, they are taking a road trip to face off against Vigor at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blount is facing Vigor at the right time seeing as Vigor is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
