The West Las Vegas Dons were the 83-58 winner over the Santa Fe Prep Blue Griffins when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. West Las Vegas took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Griffins. West Las Vegas' defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, West Las Vegas had strong showings from Jonathon Gonzales, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and P.j. Montano, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Montano is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Sena, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
West Las Vegas has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Santa Fe Prep, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Las Vegas will take on the Horsemen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (St. Michael's is ranked 52nd, while the Dons are ranked 45th). As for Santa Fe Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against the Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe Indian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
