Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Erskine Academy

While Erskine Academy's victory against Morse wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Shipbuilders 8-7 on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three contests in a row.

Kelsie Dunn was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryana Barrett, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Kammie Thompson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Erskine Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Erskine Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Morse, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Erskine Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Morse will face off against rival Leavitt at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
