Baseball Recap: DeSales Comes Up Short

DeSales dropped their record down to 14-14 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 9-1 to the Meade County Green Waves. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Green Waves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Meade County, their record is now 17-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against DeSales since March 12, 2016.

For Meade County's part, Talan Ledford and Lucas Hail made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Ledford pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Meanwhile, Hail tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ledford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ledford went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Hail went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That's the most RBI Ledford has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Cockerill, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grayson Rhodes, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSales will challenge North Hardin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Meade County, they will face off against Marion County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Waves are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
